Kate Brown

Kate Brown is a Lecturer in Social Policy & Crime at the University of York, and previously worked in the third sector supporting vulnerable groups such as young women who sold sex, young drug users and families affected by domestic violence. She is the author of Vulnerability & Young People: care and social control in policy and practice (Policy Press, 2016). Before working in academia, Kate worked in the voluntary sector for nearly ten years in services for vulnerable groups, and is a trustee for Basis Yorkshire, an award-winning regional voluntary sector support and advocacy project on sex work and child sexual exploitation.
